To make an interesting book is hard work.
An act of will makes all the difference. We understand that being published feels as wonderful as you hoped it would. Perhaps even better.
Should you believe you have an original and substantial idea for a book and want to share it with us with the view to it being published by Love Books, please know we specialise in illustrated books.
Although we love and appreciate them, we do not publish children’s books.
Just like all publishers, we have a criterion by which we choose the books we go to print with.
A full manuscript is a lot for any publisher to read and does not make a proposal any more inviting. When approaching our Acquisitions Editor, a clear and detailed idea, a summary, of what your book is about and who you see as the audience it is intended for will gain attention so much more than sending the entire manuscript without any information about you or the intention behind the book.
Successful proposals usually include:
How is your book different? A narrative description of the proposed book’s theme and place in a bookstore.
What story are you telling?
An explanation of the audience you have in mind.
A comparison of the proposed book to existing books for a similar audience.
A summary of your professional experience, past publications, and relevant research.
A table of contents and a summary of each chapter.
An estimate of the book’s length, including total word count, the number and kind of illustrations, how much of the manuscript is already in draft form, and the time it will take you to complete it.
